|About the Area: Located on the East End of Long Island, the village of Southampton was settled in 1640 and is the oldest English settlement in New York State. Southampton is the premier village in "The Hamptons," a collective term for the string of charming hamlets (comprising Southampton, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, Wainscott, East Hampton, Amagansett, Sag Harbor, and Montauk) to be found on the South Fork of the East End of Long Island between the Shinnecock Canal and Montauk Point.
Our luxury bed and breakfast was originally constructed in 1860 as the home of William Jagger, one of the early settlers of Southampton, and is now designated as a New York State historic property. A Butler’s Manor is located one-half mile from the center of downtown Southampton Village, where you can enjoy shopping, dining, and nearby world-class ocean beaches, as well as access all the Hamptons-area attractions, including cultural events, seasonal equestrian events, and award-winning Long Island wineries.
A Butler's Manor is close enough to major roadways to allow easy access, but is NOT "on the highway" or in a busy central location that would compromise your ability to enjoy a restful, rejuvenating stay. If you’re looking for the perfect Hamptons lodging destination, our Southampton bed and breakfast inn is a centrally-located base for visiting all that the Hamptons and the surrounding area has to offer. Plan your escape today!

Locations / Directions: We are located one-half mile north of the shopping district in the center of Southampton Village. By Car, from Manhattan and points west (estimated time: 1.45 - 3 hours, depending on traffic): Take the Long Island Expressway (Rt. 495) east to Exit 70. Turn right off the expressway and head south 4.5 miles to Sunrise Highway (Rt. 27). Continue east on Rt. 27 for approximately 13 miles. The four lane highway will narrow (and the speed limit will decrease to 35 MPH) as you enter the outskirts of Southampton town. Continue on this road for approximately 4.5 miles. Look for an intersection with a 7-Eleven on the SE corner(RHS), a Mobil gas station on the NW corner (LHS). Go THROUGH that intersection. One half mile further on, the NEXT intersection (stoplight) is North Main Street. Turn right. A Butler's Manor is located 2/10 mile on the left, a large yellow Colonial with green shutters and a white picket fence, and our little butler holds the mailbox/sign. There is plenty of off-street parking. By Train or Bus: Located in the historic district of Southampton Village, A Butler's Manor is easy walking distance from both our local train station and the two luxury coach depots. If you plan to arrive via one of these modes of transportation, let us know beforehand your scheduled arrival time, and we will do our best to meet you at the station. We recommend the coach service offered by Hampton Jitney which offers many daily trips to and from Manhattan, whereas the train has few daily runs to Southampton.
