About the Area: This is pristine country! We are located in the southern tier of the Leatherstocking region just 3 hours drive from the George Washington Bridge. There are many small lakes, creeks and rivers throughout the area with open meadows and spectacular forest lands. The predominatly dairy farms are gradually giving way to excellent organic beef, goat, sheep and alpaca farms as well as vegtable and fruit farms. Many find that this is a great area for vacation and retirement homes away from the hustle and bustle of urban and suburban living.

Inn Description: Berry Hill Gardens is off the beaten path on a secluded country lane, yet only 7 miles from Bainbridge, Afton or Oxford Villages. This country bed and breakfast is situated high on a hilltop overlooking miles of the rural beauty of New York Central Leatherstocking region in an area bursting with museums, sporting facilities, artisans and fascinating history. The vista of extensive herb and perennial gardens with hundreds of plant varieties offer four-season interest and a tranquil atmosphere in which to stroll or lounge. The restored 1820s farmhouse is furnished with early American antiques and boasts a large great room for guests to relax. A welcoming wood burning stove for cozying up to after cross country skiing and a grand wrap around porch offers views to the countryside year-round. Recently featured in Country Living Gardener Magazine, the Gardens have been the site for small intimate weddings and large lavish affairs. The property comprises hundreds of acres of woods, fields and ponds for bird watching, hiking, skating, fishing and swimming as well as artists workshops.
